John W. Koch Jr., 78, passed away on August 1, 2022 in Tucson, Arizona. John was born on January 3, 1944 in Queens, New York to parent 's John and Catherine Koch.
He was married to his wife Gerri A. Koch for 43 years. He has resided in Long Island, NY, Yuma, AZ and Tucson, AZ. John is a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps after serving 20 years and retiring as a Master Sergeant. After he worked for the Yuma County Sheriff's Office as a Watch Commander for an additional 20 years until retiring for good. The hobbies he enjoyed were fishing, exploring, playing with his grandchildren and spending quality time with his family.
John is survived by his wife Gerri A. Koch of Tucson, Arizona; children, John W. Koch III (Jessica E. Koch), Gary L. Koch (Sarah M. Koch), Elaine A. Koch; grand children, Julia, Hailey, Ethan, Jacob, Jessica, Vivian, Richard; 4 great grandchildren and several brothers and sisters on the East coast.
Viewing will be held at Yuma Mortuary, Friday, August 12, 2022 from 5 to 8:00 pm with Funeral Services to be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 am.

I spent a good portion of my teenage years over at the Koch residence hanging out with Mr. and Mrs. Koch's sons, John and Gary. Mr. and Mrs. Koch treated my brother and I like part of the family and consider them part of my extended family. I have fond memories of Mr. Koch taking us to the Desert West Skatepark in Phoenix and spending time with he and the rest of the family at their home over amazing homecooked meals and also cherish the wonderful memories going to the movies, bowling, and getting pizza with them. I never felt like a fifth wheel. I love the Koch family very much. I offer my sincere condolences to the Koch family and to others who knew and cared about Mr. Koch. He was a kind soul and I am eternally grateful to have had the opportunity to know him.
