It is sad to know that your father is gone from us. I was in the Class of 1960 and remember him as having a wonderful smile and always a gentle, calm demeanor with his students. He and your mom were my ideal couple.

Laura and Family, What a beautiful tribute to your father. He will be missed. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and leader in the community. I feel so fortunate he moved his family back to Elkin in the seventies, and cherish the memories of all the good times we had together. He was an inspiration to all.
Love, Manda

Claude Eldridge was a great man and a great influence on me. I can still remember being in the 7th grade and trying to play football for the first time. He had great patience and always treated his players with dignity and respect. The first time I put on a football uniform I put the thighpads in backwards. He never laughed or made fun of my ignorance, he simply told me how they were supposed to fit. The most important part of coaching is how to treat a player. Coach Eldridge taught me this lesson in 1963. It has been the best coaching advice I've had during my 37 year coaching career. I cannot image how many lives he touched with his unselfishness and his unquenchable desire to help others. Coach Eldridge was what you're suppose to be. I will always be grateful.

He was my Sunday school teacher, geometry teacher, and coach. Most of all he taught by example of a life well lived.
I wish my sons had had a coach like him. He always had that big smile and warm handshake when I saw him at church over the years.
I'm glad I had a chance two years ago to tell him what a great influence he had in my life. He now has his reward for being a good and faithful servant.
