Gerald Romotsky Obituary
Gerald M. "Jerry" Romotsky, 74, a resident of Salisbury, MA and formerly of Newburyport, MA, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Prescott House in North Andover, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (Florent) Romotsky with whom he shared thirty-four years of marriage.
He was born on January 2, 1951 and was the son of the late Sidney and Dorothy (Marcus) Romotsky. Jerry was raised and educated in Swampscott, MA. He was employed as a retail manager for many years until his retirement.
Jerry will be remembered for his gentle spirit. He enjoyed gardening at home in Newburyport. He took pride and felt a sense of accomplishment in planting flowers, which provided him peace and tranquility. He particularly loved day lilies. He was also an avid Boston sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Jerry enjoyed many trips to Maine, especially Kennebunk, and also to St. Thomas, Antigua, and Florida. Captiva Island in Florida was his favorite destination. Jerry loved animals and relished the companionship of several dogs over the years. Jerry also celebrated many holidays and other events with the Florents, including the annual backyard Fourth of July barbeque that he and Theresa hosted in Newburyport. He often brought his famous grapenut custard dessert to the winter holidays for all to savor.
Besides his wife, Jerry is survived by his sister Debbie Piemonte and her husband Michael, his brothers and sisters-in-law Peter Florent and his wife Susan, Michael Florent and his wife Anne-Marie, Denise Hamel and her husband Wally, Anne Marie Mede, Joseph Florent and his wife Dee, Mary Harriman and her husband Roger, and Michele Perillo and her husband Randy. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and his best friend William "Billy" Como.
Jerry was predeceased by his first wife Holly Romotsky, his mother and father-in-law George and Elaine Florent, his sister-in-law Donna Demers, and his brother-in-law Paul Florent.
The family would like to thank all those at Prescott House who cared for him. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Sarah's Place, 180 Water St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 11am at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Haverhill, MA.
