Maryann Oberg Obituary

Maryann B. Oberg, 86, of Meriden, CT, beloved wife of the late Roy E. Oberg, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a brief illness. Born on November 14, 1938, in Southington, CT, Maryann was the daughter of the late Stanley and Caroline (Kozak) Walonoski. A graduate of Southington High School, she went on to work for Aetna for ten years before joining the Meriden Board of Education, where she dedicated thirty years of service until her retirement in 2009. A woman of deep faith, Maryann was a longtime parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden and a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. She cherished the time spent with friends and was known for organizing their many lunches together. An avid traveler, she especially loved visiting Italy and the coast of Maine. Maryann enjoyed reading, sewing, and watching her favorite game shows. She is survived by her daughter, Kristin A. Masocco, and her husband, William M. Masocco, of Meriden; her son, Scott E. Oberg, and his wife, Tracy (Greenwood) Oberg, also of Meriden; and four cherished grandchildren: Krysta Lynn Oberg, Erica Oberg, Garret Michael Masocco, and Erik Matthew Masocco. She also leaves behind her sister, Sister Victoria Walonoski of New Britain, along with several nieces and nephews. Maryann was predeceased by her siblings: Dorothy Walonoski, Louise (Walonoski) Rostock, Stanley Walonoski, and Walter Walonoski. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, May 8th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT.
