Alison Blair Obituary

Alison J. Blair, 61, of Granby, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, May 1, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Born in New Haven, CT, daughter to the late Stephen C. and Gloria H (Balzer) Blair. Alison was raised in Woodbridge, graduating from Amity Regional High School in 1982. She continued her education at Southern Connecticut University before moving to NJ and working at Moore Business Forms. After returning to CT, she had her son, Brandon, who was the light of her life. She then began her career with the CT Probate Administration until her retirement in November 2023. Alison worked for Probate Court Administration in West Hartford, CT for almost 20 years. She was well known in the office for her quick thinking and problem solving, and often came up with quick, handy solutions for broken office equipment. Other courts throughout the state often called her for assistance when technical problems arose. She had many close relationships with other court employees from around the state. When her health would allow, Alison loved to garden, flowers specifically, improving landscapes in her yard. She enjoyed furry friends, dogs and cats mostly, even her son Brandon's addition to the home, Fenway, a very happy and energetic yellow lab, who kept her company while she was home. Alison also had wonderful talent when it came to creating beaded jewelry, often making earrings, necklaces and bracelets to sell at local craft fairs and for friends and family. She was also able to enjoy celebrating Brandon and Jill's wedding in August of 2024. Alison will be dearly missed by her son, Brandon and wife, Jillian Cody of Granby, CT as well as her only sister, Liza Blair of Ansonia, CT and many beloved co- workers and friends in the probate court administration, and the Granby 4-H community. Alison was predeceased by both parents, Stephen and Gloria Blair. A Visitation has been scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2025, from 4:00-5:30PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 5:30PM in the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT. 06035. If possible, please wear purple to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society, https://donate.cancer.org or by mail at P.O.
