I just had a Facebook memory pop up with Ray, and so I went to his page to see how he was doing. I'm so sorry to see that he has passed. My condolences to you, Beatrice. I know you were absolutely the light of his life.

I met Ray in a poetry class at the University of Akron decades ago. He was culturally savvy, a lover of words in literature and song. The world has lost an intelligent and kind man. Condolences to his family and to his daughter Beatrice during this sad time. Please know you had one cool dad.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I knew Ray decades ago when we were part of a group of University of Akron poets in Elton Glaser's poetry classes. Deep condolences to his loved ones. To paraphrase a line from Ram Dass, now his soul is free, and the love you share with him is invulnerable to the winds of changing time and space.

Ray was my best friend during 5th and 6th grade at Bath School. I was lucky enough to reconnect with him for dinner a few times over the last 2 years when he came back to Ohio. Simply one of the nicest guys I ever knew. My deepest condolences to the Barker family.

Ray was a true friend with impeccable taste in literature, art, and music. He will be missed for his work documenting the cultural scene of Washington DC.
