Amy Bunker Obituary

Amy Ruth Bunker, 96, of Derry, NH died on Friday June 3, 2022 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Miss Bunker was born in Derry on December 21, 1925, and was the only daughter of the late Fred M. and Lottie R. (Parker) Bunker. Miss Bunker, who was a lifelong resident of Derry until the age of 94, was a proud 1946 graduate of Pinkerton Academy, and formerly worked at several shoe factories in Derry including Chelmsford Shoe. In July 2020, after experiencing the social and personal isolation caused by the covid pandemic, Miss Bunker threw all caution to the wind and, for the first time in 94 years, she left the Bunker family homestead to begin a new life in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

While in Ann Arbor, Miss Bunker kept a busy social calendar. She hosted daily visits from family, kept in contact with her friends in Derry, enjoyed a host of outings (e.g., to the shopping mall, Salvation Army, doctor, apple cider mill, etc.), and loved being the center of attention at all family, holiday, and graduation events. Additionally, in her last years, Miss Bunker made new friends from across a range of cultures, all of whom adored her, and who appreciated her wit and wisdom.

She is survived by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephew including: Amy M. Bunker and her partner Debbie V. Lewis of Ann Arbor, MI; Cheryle Bunker-Good and her husband William John Good of Londonderry, NH; Mark S. Bunker and D'Anne Carnahan of Prairie Village, KS, Paul J. Bunker and Janice Cohen of Pittsburgh, PA; Emma J. Bunker-Uzelac, of Westland, MI; Helen M. Bunker-Uzelac of Ann Arbor, MI; and Josh Bunker of Madison Heights, MI; as well as, her sister-in-law, Joy L. Bunker of Ann Arbor, MI. Miss Bunker was predeceased by her siblings, Milon F. Bunker, Ralph W. Bunker, Leon O. Bunker, Howard O. Bunker, and Fred E. Bunker.

There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry, NH at a later date.
