Denise Clapp
February 24, 2025
Dear Jay, this is Denise Clapp from our old @tomping grounds Mid Columbia mental health. My daughter Heather found the obituary. I can't believe it. I know we have not kept in touch but I loved working with her in med management. I loved her laugh. I remember her planning that surprise cruise with a jigsaw puzzle for you to figure out. She was funny and caring. I am so sad for your loss. I still live in the same house and walk by your old place often and think about the two of you. Email me at [email protected] if you see this. I would like to know more. My condolences.

It doesn't feel real that Patsy is gone. I expect her to show up at the doorstep with a bottle of champagne and tickets for a surprise, all-inclusive vacation for everyone she celebrated life with-her biggest hijinks yet.
I am a lucky woman because Patsy was my mother-in-law. She was more than just smart: she wielded her sly cleverness and practical wisdom like a two-edged sword. I think of her as a winner: she went after what she wanted, she dominated at cards-she even won radio contests!
Robert Louis Stevenson, who I imagine loved a good story almost as much as Patsy did, wrote: "like the voice of a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memory survive in the hour of darkness." As we grieve, I think of one of the best memories of my life, dreamt up and delivered by Patsy: a surprise rehearsal dinner at a snowy inn, with our scheming families arriving in coordinated ugly Christmas sweaters the night before Alex and I married.
Patsy made sure that if she loved you, you knew it.
We love you, Patsy.

I just can't wrap my head around Patsy being gone. Ever since I met her when I was a young, awkward preteen and she was dating my brother Jay, she had a way of making me feel special and appreciated, always taking the time to check in with me. Over the years she has had my back in many situations and at times I wasn't even aware of until recently. Patsy had a fierce love for family, friends and for embracing life. Her laugh was so contagious, and she had a way of creating such a fun atmosphere out of the silliest and simplest of circumstances. In the fall of 2019, she took a temporary job working for Seattle City Light and lived with us for about 6 months just before the COVID shutdown. It was a delight to have her living with us and including her in our own family shenanigans which she loved (even scaring her in the morning with a surprise skeleton over her bed). In the evenings we would sit in the living room with Lester watching television and sharing stories and getting to know each other even better. In 2022, we joined her and Jay and my sister Susie and her daughter Stephanie on a trip to Tuscany and Elba Island which she largely planned. It was an absolute joy to soak up our time in Italian wine country with her and walking away with many an inside joke. Oh Patsy, I will miss you and your fun-loving spirit so much. I hope you are at peace and continuing to share your lovely sass in Heaven.

I was Patsy's brother-in-law. I will never forget how quickly she and Jay welcomed me to the family. She was the archetype of a loving mother and wife. Diminutive in stature, her love was gigantic. Towering and sturdy it was a lighthouse to all whom she loved whenever we felt lost.
The thing that often struck me the most about her was how much interest she had in everyone. Whether she agreed with you or not, if you had a tale to tell she was all in. Her laugh was spontaneous and infectious. She had very little subtlety in her game. There was no guessing what Patsy enjoyed. She was tactful and full of thought. She had an opinion on everything and if they had made a movie about it, she could tell you the entire cast.
If you want to know Patsy, spend any amount of time with her husband or two sons. They are the true embodiment of her heart. I will miss you Patsy, but I promise I will never be without you

Patsy was my sister-in-law technically, but to me always just a sister! I loved getting together with her at family events and her witty sense of humor always made me laugh even if I was the brunt of her teasing! When I visited, she was a most gracious host and a wonderful cook! She made anyone feel right at home. Our shared trip to Italy with Jay, Christie, Lester, and my daughter Stephanie will be a time I will always remember! We all love playing games together and she was the game member you wanted on your team, especially if it was movie trivia. Man!, what a memory. She loved my brother so much it made my heart full. And her sons Alex and Cam were her treasures. I miss you, Patsy, see you in the Bye-n- Bye!

My deepest sympathy goes out to you at this difficult time.
My name is Anna, I'm the Account Consultant for RelianceMatrix and Patsy was my first Client Manager when I started with this company two years ago.
Patsy and I worked together on the daily basis, sharing same clients, ups and downs and laughs. She always referred to me as her "right hand" or "partner in crime".
We lived close to each other, and I got to spend some time with Patsy outside of work, including my last birthday lunch which I'm so grateful for.
Patsy and I also shared the same humour, and I love her for that!
To keep her in great memory - I'd like to share the last picture that Patsy has sent to me when she was traveling, jokingly saying: "Therapy Llamas at the airport, walking up and down the airport!"
I encouraged her to go up to the llama and hug it for me.
She said to me: "I knew you'd love it!".
I miss her, every day.

My dear Aunt Patsy, you will be so dearly missed by Jeanette and I. We loved going to Santa Anita Derby and Farmers Insurance Open with you and Uncle Jay, and seeing you for the last time in our new home of Nashville, TN at Radnor Lake.
I will always remember the sleep over nights in Kennewick with Alex and Cam during childhood. Your laugh and stories along with your humor will forever be missed and cherished in my heart and memory.
We love you so much
