Morris had a long and storied work career. In the early 1970s, he worked downtown Seattle as a baker for Pizza Pete. He and Janet used to watch the Pizza Pete boat compete at the hydroplane events. In 1976 Morris became a farrier/horse shoer. Shortly thereafter, he became a racehorse trainer. He raced horses in Washington and Oregon until Janet took over in 1984.
