Monique Garcia Obituary

Monique Garcia
February 6, 1981 - July 12, 2022
Kennewick, Washington - MONIQUE GARCIA
02/06/1981 â€" 07/12/2022
From Burleson, TX, US | Born in Santa Monica, CA
Monique Garcia, loving mother, sister, aunt, nurse, and endless friend passed away on July 12th at the age of 41.
Monique was born in Santa Monica, California to Apolinar Garcia and Rosie E. Arteaga on February 6, 1981. Monique and her two siblings Nancy and Peter were raised in Pasco, Washington by their mother and older aunties Betty, Mary and Angela.
A "Bulldog" who graduated from Pasco High in 1999 with her CNA certificate, also spent a year abroad as a foreign exchange student in Costa Rica. Monique went on to attend Columbia Basin College in 2002 to earn her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) certificate. Soon after, she became a Registered Nurse (RN) by earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Washington State University.
She began her career in nursing at La Clinica, now known as TCCH and continued her journey of helping others and making friends along the way at health agencies such as Lourdes Medical Center, and Seattle Children's. After moving to Burleson, Texas last year, she continued her nursing career with Genex Medical Services. Throughout her nursing career she served her patients with passion and dedication, treating her them with the same dignity and respect as family. She also gained many colleagues which she looked up to as mentors which are too many to list.
Monique lived life to the fullest with kindness, compassion, and love for all. Her time spent in Costa Rica sparked a curiosity and wonder of foreign places. She worked hard so she could explore new places such as Italy, Greece, Rome, and the beaches of Hawaii and Mexico. Her favorite adventures included making memories with family and friends on those excursions. She had a passion for music, dancing, going to concerts, and spending time with friends and family. It is most fitting that Monique spent her last days visiting in Tri-Cities enjoying a music festival surrounded with friends and family, which she loved and adored.
Monique was an excellent mother to all her children, Rey, Julianna, Joey, including stepchildren Briana and Armandito, whom she loved as her own. She was not only their mom, but also their role model, nurse, #1 fan, counselor, teacher, advocate, and most importantly, their protector.
Monique is survived by her beautiful children and stepchildren Julianna and Joey, Briana and Armandito; parents Apolinar Garcia (Dallas, TX), Rosie E. Arteaga; sister Nancy Garcia-Olivo husband Eric, children Adriel, Evan, and Emilio; brother Peter Valdivia, son Adream. She is also survived by aunts that were closer to sisters in her life, Betty Cruz and family; Mary Arteaga and family; Angela Espinoza and family; and Sandy Quiroga and family, and so many more aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Monique is preceded in death by her beloved son Rey who was the light of her life and whom she has now been reunited and great grandmother Maria Acevedo.
She will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life to honor Monique will be determined for a later date and will be announced.
