Linda Peters-Barthuly Obituary

Linda Gay Peters-Barthuly

October 1, 1958 - December 31, 2024

Kennewick, Washington - On December 31st in the early morning hours in Kennewick, WA, while surrounded by loved ones, Linda Gay Peters-Barthuly lost her battle with cancer at the age of 66. Linda was born on October 1st 1958 in Billings, Montana and was one of six children to Alsie and Alonzo Parks. Linda loved her friends and family ferociously and lived each day to the last. Linda was the ultimate stay-at-home mom who cooked and baked for her family of 8 until she went after her passion and received her degree in Criminal Justice from Blue Mountain Community College in 1994. That Winter she was employed at Benton County Jail until the day she retired in 2013. While employed at Benton County Jail she created and implemented the Classification program (that is now used today as well as at many other facilities), she was the president of the Washington State Jail Association, and she taught the PRIA program. During her retirement, her husband Jerry and her had many adventures in their RV and on their Harley. They dropped many pins all over the map of the US and went on many cruises. She was survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry Dale Peters, her children: William Peters, Candy Gillespie (husband, Frank), Jerica Leisenring (husband, Mike), Melanie Wells (husband, Scott), Brandy Peters (fiancé, Rena), Ashley Bautista-Peters (wife, Claudia) as well as her 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many other children she took under her wing over the years. There will be a memorial service taking place this Spring. A big thank you to all her friends and loved ones who helped love and care for her through this trying time.

Always loved working with Officer Peters. Linda was a no nonsense officer and had a contagious laugh. I remember being her partner and helping her take an inmate down one time. She kind of went for a ride but we laughed about it later. She will be truly missed. Rees

I worked with Linda at the Benton County jail. She was the perfect combination of humor and command and I loved working with her. She always got the joke.

Such sweet memories of us all in Texas and 6 little blonds in the back seat.
We always laughed about how one day when Melanie and Kelsey got their drivers licenses they would probably crash into each other and they did ! You were so fearless and smart there wasn´t anything you couldn´t accomplish! I will always remember our times together which such love I will miss you as so many will . And I am so Thankful I knew and loved you
Always in my heart
