Les Mungia Obituary

Les Mungia
July 2, 1949 - June 15, 2022
Puyallup, Washington - Husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. In all those relationships, Les brought with him his unconditional love. He brought acceptance, not judgment. Gratitude, not envy. Glee, not gloom. Les knew not only how to laugh with you but to cry with you as well. When you were in need, Les was there.
He loved his God -- Les committed his life to his faith and to his church embracing and nurturing his church family. Les was generous with his time -- he gave when asked even after his body was really telling him "no mas." For Les, his relationships with his God, his church, his family and his friends were the most important parts of his life.
Throughout his life, Les loved food so much so that his mom often said he was a "foodaholic" and once offered to pay for hypnosis to help him curb his eating. He came up with the family motto: "eat till it hurts" and often followed that saying. Les knew his way around the kitchen and his family, especially his nephews and nieces, are going to miss the fried rice that only he could make.
In his latter years he often told his wife, "Kath," that his body was wearing out and he needed a new one. Well Les, you now have a new body. You are in a better place. You are with your parents, grandparents, and ancestors. We all will be joining you someday.
We love you.
Services will be held at Life Center Rainier, 17708 28th Ave., East, Tacoma on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

I wish I could have joined you all today. I have thought about Mr. Mungia so much this last week.
May he rest peacefully and may your hearts always be filled with his memory.
Heaven is shining a little brighter from his smiling face.
Love, hugs and fried rice to all of you.

Your friend,
Stella

Just like most of you, tears have fallen, not because I´m sad because I know my friend Les is in a better place, the tears are because I miss my friend, my mentor, my teacher.

While thinking of Les , if he could speak to me from heaven, I believe this is what he would tell me:

"DoLores can you imagine what it´s like to be wrapped in His Glory, there are no words to describe standing before the King".

Dolores for me to live is Christ and to die is gain. Now if I had lived on in the flash, this means fruitful work for me; and I was torn between the two. I long to depart and be with Christ which is far better but to remain in the flesh would have been more necessary for your sake. So Dolores, keep the faith, keep striving to do His will, and when it´s over this is the place to be".

Thank you Les, Rest peacefully!

I will always remember how he cherished Kathleen and his family. He loved God and walked the walk. I know he will be missed so much, but Praise God, there will be a reunion. Life is not over for Les, it´s truly beginning in the presence of the Lord!!! Prayers for the family.

Les had a million dollar smile. He was a true gentleman who openly practiced his faith. Blessings, Kathy, as you remember all the good times together.

Les was a special person whom cared for others. I´m the wife of a high school friend, he didn´t have to consider or nice to a shy Texas gal. But he was! Always trying to include me to conversation. He even first person to try sushi, that he himself made. Delicious! He will be missed.

Graduated with Leslie in 1967. A quiet, tall, gentle soul. Even when he wasn't smiling, his eyes smiled! My condolences to the Mungia family.

What an incredible blessing Les was to us. He always had a smile and encouraging word. His tender heart and love for Jesus was evident to all who knew him. We certainly do miss him and we pray daily that dear Kathleen and the rest of the family will feel God´s comfort and direction for the journey ahead.
