Virginia Nicholson Obituary

Virginia Lee Nicholson made her entrance into glory peacefully on Dec. 15, 2023 after years of battling with various health struggles. She was born March 4, 1938 to the late James W. and Edith R. Burns Erskine and had been a resident of Lower Burrell for the past 55 years after moving from Harwick and growing up in West Deer. She was married to Jan Nicholson for 63 years who was the love of her life until his passing on Jan. 21, 2020. Her marriage to Jan was nothing short of admirable and they truly adored each other. The only thing Virginia loved more than family was the Lord. She had been a faithful follower of Christ her entire life and was a member of Dorseyville Alliance Church for several decades. She made a point to share the good news of Jesus with anyone she met and her life represented him well, giving him the glory in all circumstances. Amongst her love for her family and the Lord, she enjoyed (and was great at) baking, sewing, and listening to music. If you were to walk into her house on any given day, you would often see her doing one of those things. Virginia is survived by her three children, Jody (Les) Oddis, Lower Burrell Timothy (Julie) Nicholson, Mars and Jill (Ken) Awes, of Lower Burrell; daughter-in-law Patricia Nicholson; grandchildren, Jan (Jamie "Lou") Nicholson III, Jamie "Liz" (Michael) Wach, Jonathan (Stephanie) Nicholson, Daniel Nicholson, Jason (fiancee, Melissa Knox) Nicholson, Jesse (April) Oddis, Noah (Allyson) Oddis, John (fiancee Morgan McGhee), Jennifer and Elizabeth Kaplan, Austin (fiancee Candice Ashbaugh), India (Michael) McKee Olivia and Nathan Awes; and great-grandchildren, Anni, Jaxon, Rose, Skye Nicholson, Hannah Wach and Lincoln Oddis; and sister, Nancy Lowe, of Tennessee. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jan Nicholson Jr.; and siblings, Charles S., Margaret L., James E., Clifford D., Robert Nathan, Herman R., Jack D., and Barbara J. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street where a prayer service will be held at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday followed by funeral services in Dorseyville Alliance Church at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. Mark Conklin. Burial will be private in Bakerstown Cemetery. RusiewiczFH.com.
