James Stewart Obituary

James C. Stewart Sr., of Greensburg, passed away peacefully in his home Friday, May 20, 2022. He was the son of Harry and Marie Stewart, born in August 1930, in Pleasant Gap, Pa. Jim was a graduate of Franklin High 1947, a very proud Marine Veteran (1952-54), an early "Volunteer Firefighter" in his community of West Point, Greensburg, longtime member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and retired with more than 40 years of service as an employee of Bell of PA/Verizon. Jim's pleasure was nature, where he was an avid hunter, always found time to cut/split firewood for his two homes and was the "repair extraordinaire." He could fix anything around his homes and cars, as well as his neighbors, was always available and could never say no. Jim was preceded in death by his three brothers, Harry, Sam and Tom; sister, Rosalee; daughter, Kathy (Ken); and daughter-in-law, Carol (Jim Jr). Jim is survived by his wife of 71 amazing years, Dorothy; his sister, Nancy; sons, Jim Jr. and Mark (Cindi); eight grandchildren and their spouses, James (Elena), Michelle, Jeff, Ron (Wendy), Kimberly (Nick), Melissa (David), Thomas, Dana and Dakoda; and 11 great-grandchildren. His family would like to thank all the family, friends and neighbors who lovingly offered and gave their support to Jim when the need arose. You all were a true blessing. To all the care givers, a special mention to April from Jeanette and Dee in Arizona, you both were the very best and truly loved, and to all the Hospice nurses and doctors. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, in West Point, Greensburg. The family request no flowers, but if in.d a donation to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church would be welcomed. For online condolences or information, please visit www.kepplegraft.com.
