Ronald Burling Obituary

Ronald John Burling, 75, of Newtown Square, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, following a brief but serious cancer diagnosis. Born on Feb. 17, 1950, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, Ron was the son of the late Marjorie and Eric Y. Burling. He was a 1968 graduate of Oakmont High School and went on to earn his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. Ron lived a life marked by deep love for family, unwavering faith, and dedication to building strong, compassionate communities. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Maureen Isenberg Burling, and by his children: Patrick M., Matthew T., Andrew J., Jonathan C., Christopher R. (Daniella Burling), Erik D. (Lauren Burling), and honorary seventh son, Jason. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Miles, Sabrina, Fletcher, Nils, Spencer, and Stephen. Ron is also survived by his brother, Eric (Kathryn Burling); sister, Wendy Spohn (Robert Spohn); and many dear nieces and nephews. Ron spent his career in human resources, working with PPG Industries, Central Medical Center, and Southland Corporation, and later as a self-employed consultant focusing on positive employee relations. In retirement, he supported the Marple Newtown School District as a bus aide. He brought empathy, clarity, and wisdom to every workplace he touched. A member of the vestry at St. Alban's Church, Ron was also a volunteer for St. James School and Bethesda Project. He and Maureen opened their home to more than a dozen international high school students from China and Korea, becoming extended family to many across the world. Ron's life continues to give through the gift of his body for science and research. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 3625 Chapel Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073.

I remember Ron and Jon when Jon and his brothers were going to The Haverford School.
Ron gave the faculty and staff a couple of seminars
Even though I haven´t seen or talked to him, in years I will always remember him
What an amazing man.
May he rest in eternal peace

To my Precious Brother Ron. I still can not believe you have left us so quickly . I have so many fantastic memories growing up with you in Oakmont. You took me with you every where. We played baseball, football, basketball, climbed trees, hiked dark hollow woods with our neighborhood friends . Holidays, the loss of our grandpa, and 8 months later our dad at 48 drew us closer together . You were always there to comfort me like a father . You always had your fun smile and goofy jokes that made me laugh. Then you left for college and met Maureen whom you married. Off you went to have 6 wonderful sons. Life just flew by. It was so hard on us losing our precious mother , Marjorie, July 10, 2010. We talked many hours over the last 15 years about everything . I will miss seeing your name come up on my phone. We had such fun reliving our childhood together. As mom always said, Love in Jesus is Forever Ron. And I know you are with Jesus right now. I rest in that; and look forward to seeing you again my precious brother and friend forever
Love you forever Ron. Your sister Wendy
