Eleanor Stoves Obituary

Eleanor F. (Virone) Stoves, 84, formerly of Irwin, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Concordia Weatherwood Greensburg. She was born Nov. 5, 1940, a daughter of the late John J. Virone Sr. and Lillian (Barber) Virone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Stoves Sr.; children, Roy W. "Bill" Stoves Jr. and Donna Stoves-Bernatowicz. Eleanor was a member of Living Word Congregational Church, Jeannette. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished great-grandmother. Eleanor lived a life full of kindness, compassion and unwavering love for her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and baker, always filling her home with the delightful aroma of her famous boiled pot pie, pizza and lasagna. Family gatherings were never complete without her homemade bread. Her love for attending church was matched only by her passion for shopping, dancing, and gospel music. Eleanor was the heart of her family, a wonderful wife and dedicated matriarch, who nurtured not only her loved ones, but also everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her warmth, thoughtfulness and genuine spirit were a source of comfort and inspiration. She was especially proud of her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, finding joy in the laughter and milestones of each generation. Eleanor is survived by her daughter-in-law, Christa Stoves; grandchildren, Angela (Jonathan) Stoves-Vargo, Anthony (Samantha) Stoves and Thomas Stoves and great-grandchildren, Dean Stoves, Patrick Vargo, Noah Vargo, Raelynn Stoves, Delilah Stoves, and Gabriella Stoves; sisters, Caroline Barrett of Arizona, Cecilia (Dale) Kasparek of Harrisburg, Rosemarie (Tom) Olecki of California, Nina Virone of Florida, Virginia (John) Virone-Arnold of Pittsburgh; brother, John J. Virone Jr. of Greensburg; also many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was very appreciative to those who helped her and referred to them as her extended family, Peg Dunmire of Florida, Sandra Hopkins of Greensburg, and Brandon and Kim Hampton of Greensburg. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the Independence Hospice staff (Ashley, Kaylee, Nancy) for their exceptional dedication, care and love during her final days. BA memorial service to honor Eleanor's life will be held on July 26, 2025 at Living Word Congregational Church, 2003 Ridge Road, Jeannette, PA 15644. Family and friends will be received at 1:00 p.m. with the service starting at 1:30 p.m. (https://www.Livewordcc.org. Eleanor was an intelligent, hard-working, and compassionate woman. She was dedicated to her family, and was an excellent friend. She was a woman of uncommon strength and common sense.
She will be missed by her friends and family.
Condolences to the entire Stoves Family.
