Mary Helen (Hallock) Morris
1953 - 2022
Mary Helen Morris peacefully entered heaven on June 2, 2022 and was met with open arms by family and friends who passed before her. Mary was born August 18, 1953 in Toledo, Ohio to Russell and Rita Hallock.
Mary Morris is the beloved wife of John Morris. Much loved mother of Russell and April (Peter Swick). Cherished grandmother of Isaac and Fiona (April and Peter). Precious daughter of the late Russell and Rita Hallock. Dear sister of Michael and the late Mark Hallock. Sweet sister-in-law to Claudia Winfrey, Darcy Hallock, Trish Morris, Sharon Hallock, Connie Bienko and Michael and the late Ron (Val) Morris. She is remembered fondly by her 18 nieces and nephews.
Mary graduated from Bowsher High School in 1972. Here, she met the love of her life, John Morris. These high school sweethearts would be celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. Following graduation and marriage, Mary continued her studies in the Medical Education Field at Mercy Hospital. Mary worked as an administrator for the Transactional Resident Program at Mercy Hospital for 10 years bringing a level of organization and warmth to her position.
Mary spent most of her life thinking of others. She excelled at motherhood, managing the home, and was the foundation of her family. She was a great cook and put her heart and soul into preparing food for family gatherings. She had the Jagel family catering business in her blood, and no one left the table hungry or empty handed upon leaving. She was a joy to be with and was always positive, bubbly, dancing, singing, and sharing her sense of humor. Her arms and home were open to all. Until her health conditions made it impossible, she could be found in her garden or enjoying sewing, decorating, arranging flowers, and most importantly supporting her family. She was our constant cheerleader and champion and always managed to find the just right, most generous gift making each person feel loved and celebrated. She did all things with the "Mary touch" and always took care putting her love, time, and energy in everything she did.
Mary was actively involved in her children's activities in and out of school. She could always be counted on to lend a hand and bring her gifts to the table. She helped initiate the first Booster Club for the Springfield High School Cheerleaders and if there was an award for spirit, I think she would have earned it. Mary loved animals: dogs, cats, birds, and any other critters. Birds and squirrels literally flocked to her porch. Grace and Frank, her two pups were her best companions, and brought her great joy and unconditional love especially in her later years. Mary cared for her family during good times and hard and never wavered in her devotion. She was always there with a healing hug, guiding words or taking action.
Once blessed as a grandmother, Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren who were her pride and loving joy. She took great pleasure (as did her grandkids) in playing dolls and vehicles, encouraging fashion shows, reading books, playing games and watching movies together. They will miss her immensely.
Mary was the ultimate planner and loved planning summer vacations, family reunions and special events. Her heart was fullest when surrounded by her family and friends and watching them take joy in each other and the moments she so thoughtfully arranged.
Mary was a mother to many and prioritized caring for others above everything else. She was always giving and helping others while expecting nothing in return. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her kindness and love touched everyone she met. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Mary's life will be remembered with a Celebration of Life held at Parkway Place at 2592 Parkway Plaza on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. We ask that bright colors are worn in keeping with Mary's bright spirit. Memory cards will be available for guests to write a favorite or special memory.
As Mary loved all of Mother Nature's critters, in lieu of flowers, we would be honored to have donations made to Nature's Nursery at
natures-nursery.org in Whitehouse, Ohio.
