Edward Ramroth Obituary

Ramroth, Edward George
SANFORD, N.C. - Edward George Ramroth "Ed" of Sanford, N.C., passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, June 27, 2025. He was surrounded by his family. He continued to smile and was lighthearted with everyone until he passed.
If you knew Ed, then you know he was the sweetest man with the warmest personality. He was a lifelong Beach Boys fan, and when he was able, he would plant and tend a garden. Ed loved to play a game of poker, but it was more about being surrounded by friends that made it enjoyable for him. Ed liked the simple things in this life. He was an amazing father, friend and mentor.
Ed was born in Troy, N.Y., on January 6, 1942. He attended Troy High School, prior to enlisting in the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and proudly served with Armed Reconnaissance and Aerial Surveillance units, assigned to Nha Trang, South Vietnam, from 1965 to 1966.
He was preceded in death by his beloved Nonnie, Anna C. (Hogan) Ramroth; father, Edward Roach Ramroth; his beloved mother, Anna Mae (Travers) Ramroth; and his sister, Joyce Marie (Howard) Ramroth.
He is survived by his loving sister, Linda Van Alstyne, and her husband, Fred of Ganesvoort, N.Y.; his daughter, Megan Elizabeth Ramroth of Peoria, Ariz.; his son, Brendan Ellis Ramroth, of Sanford, N.C.; and their mother, Maureen (Ellis) Ramroth, his former wife and friend. He had five beautiful grandchildren, Samuel Edward Ramroth, Ethan Jacob Ramroth, Molly Ellis Ramroth, Dacey Frances Ramroth and Ella Maeve Ramroth.
Ed was a very proud, union Ironworker for Local 12 in Upstate New York, and Local 377 in central Calif. He was very proud of the work he did "Building America," as he called it. His work ethic was unmatched, and in 45 years in this profession, he only missed one day of work. This was a record he was very proud of.
Edward wishes to be cremated, and to have his ashes scattered over Lake George in Upstate New York. Lake George was a favorite place to Ed, and he spent many summers enjoying that part of the state.

Megan, Molly and Mo,
So sorry to hear about Ed's passing. Lots of early memories! My favorite is that he cleaned the dumpster with Armor All. Great sense of humor! May he rest in peace.
