Edward Williams Stephens Neff II of Willow St., Pa., died on February 10, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Wheeling, the son of Thomas Jackson Neff and Rachel Rettew Hicks, he was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy and Miami University.
He was the owner and principal of The Compass Company Consultants, LLC, a risk management consulting practice based from 1995 to 2007 in the Capital Region. He was the spouse of former Russell Sage College president, Jeanne Neff.
Ed served on the board of The Eddy and the Ethics Committee of Northeast Health. He was a chair of the boards of the Arts Center of the Capital Region and WMHT Public Media. He later served as a board member of WQED Multimedia (Pittsburgh) and WITF Public Media (Harrisburg, Pa.).
Ed was recently predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Jeanne Henry Kammer Neff; He will be missed by sister, Rachel Ann Neville; and three nephews; daughter, Carrie Mitchell (William); and grandchildren, Rachel and Wes; son, Edward W.S. Neff III (Tina); and grandson, Will; and stepson, Brian Kammer (Meltem Alemdar).
