Deborah Smith Obituary

Smith, Deborah Ann (Wilson) FUERA BUSH Debbie Ann, 52, passed away unexpectedly at St. Peter's Hospital on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, after a short illness of cancer, surrounded by her entire family. Our beloved Deb-Deb made it to her final destination. While her death was unexpected, she was silently suffering with cancer. For over a year and a half we feared her newfound story would claim her life, but we wanted to believe it would be never; we needed more time. But during this time, nothing stopped her, she especially lived her life to the fullest. She was born on October, 25, 1969, in Albany, the daughter of Daniel Wilson and Deborah Wilson (Stuto). Debbie graduated from the Rensselaer City Schools and from there jumped right into her career and creating a family with whom she adored so much. She was the absolute best realtor for many years and served the entire Capital Region - a huge love of hers. She was a born performer and enjoyed singing out loud at any time with the particular song "Bobby McGee" by Janice Joplin. Her favorite place to be was in York Beach, Maine where she married her sweetheart, Michael, at the Nubble Lighthouse, and spent many summers and weekends there celebrating life and togetherness with her family. Her second favorite place was to "go fishing," at the casinos. She felt a lot of joy while there spending time with her closest friends and winning. She also spent a great deal of time in her garden and spoke to her plants often. She was a force to be reckon with; the absolute best wife, mamma, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and friend. She loved unconditionally, and loved hard. Her big love was to help others in need in a million different ways: doing Equinox's Thanksgiving at the Plaza each year with her family in tow, helping The Albany City Mission, The Street Soldiers, and Coats for Kids each winter, performing random acts of kindness handing out gas cards or visa gifts cards, and many of times feeding the homeless out of her trunk downtown. She provided donations and acts of volunteering through the years as if she was already living in heaven on earth. She was a selfless, class act and never wanted any recognition. She was always the first to lend a hand and plan a party for all the several celebrations that we had as a family through the years. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Michael (Lloyd) Smith, include their sons, Ryan Harrington (Nicole) and Nicholas Harrington (Kaila); daughter, Alexis (Smith) Malone (Nick); sisters, Paula Wilson, Cindy (Wilson) Ball (Frank), and Colleen (Nina Wilson) Saia (Tony); brother, Daniel Wilson Jr. and Rachael Wilson; in-laws, Lloyd and Marie Smith; sister-in-law, JodyLynn (Smith) Bayard; brother-in-law, Thomas Bayard; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, a grandbaby on the way, and many, many friends. A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 27, at 6 p.m. in the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 53 Herrick St., Rensselaer, for all who would like to attend. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. In memory of Debbie, please consider contributing to the Cancer Foundation, Equinox or Albany City Mission. At this time if you cannot contribute, please extend an act of kindness to your neighbor friend or stranger in her memory.

To Mike and kids, when we heard the news of Deb passing we simply couldn“t believe it. This world is definitely sadder without her in it, but I know her love and generosity were contagious and she passed that on. She was a beautiful person all around. We never forgot all the times you guys were there for us. We always think there is more time. We love you guys and plan to celebrate her life with you. Until then, we have made a donation in Debs name an honor to the Albany City Mission.

I was so sad to see Deb left this earthly world. She was so wonderful. Sending prayers to the entire family to help heal your hearts with the loss of Deb. She adored her kids, husband and siblings. She had a huge heart and I had often prayed for a miracle for her. May she rest in eternal peace and give you strength from above.
