Andrew Johnston Obituary

Johnston, Andrew D. Sr. AVERILL PARK Andrew D. Johnston Sr., 39, a longtime resident of Totem Lodge Road in Averill Park and more recently of Gouverneur, died suddenly on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Born in Troy, Andy was the son of Andrew R. Johnston of Brunswick and Linda Susan Mousaw Dahl of Arizona. Andy grew up in Brunswick and was raised by his grandparents, Ted and Anne Johnston. He attended the Brittonkill Schools and H.V.C.C. His early working career was in the construction field working for David Browe Blacktopping, Rifenberg Construction, and others. He was a member of Local 157 Laborers Union. Andrew had been living in Gouverneur where he was working for the Price Chopper Supermarket and had been recently been promoted to a manager's position. Andy enjoyed fishing and all animals, including horses. Survivors, in addition to his mother and father, include his children, Taylor Johnston, Andrew Johnston Jr. and Robert Johnston all of Averill Park; his longtime companion and the mother of his children, Danylle Gerstel of Averill Park; his brothers, Jeffrey and Christopher Dahl of Arizona; his sisters, Katie Dahl of Arizona and Brenda Johnston of Brunswick; and his cousin, Amanda Johnston who was like a sister. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and other cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 19, in the Hope United Methodist Church, 566 Brunswick Road, Troy (Eagle Mills).
