Maureen Gay Obituary

Maureen Fogarty Gay, of Gulph Mills, passed away on August 4, 2022, after a short but hard-fought battle with Colon Cancer. Maureen was born in Miami, Florida on June 2, 1939, and was the eldest daughter of the late Michael and Teresa Fogarty. Maureen was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Gay, the loving mother of Michael (Laurel), and Kathleen Teague (Mark). She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren Tyler and Jake Teague, Leah Hetzell (Chris), and great granddaughter, Molly Hetzell. She is also survived by her sister Colleen McDougald (Scott), sister-in-law Sue Fogarty (brother Jack, deceased), and sisters in law Anne Miller (Tom), and Nancy Holub, plus her nieces and nephews Leah, Erin, Stephen, Christian, Robin, and Jebel, whom she loved dearly. Maureen spent many years caring for Dan after he became ill at only 37 years old. She was selfless, devoted, and for those who knew her best, the strongest of women. After moving to Pennsylvania, Maureen went to work for Upper Merion High School. As an administrative assistant between both the high school and middle school, Maureen was there for 44 years, retiring in June of 2021. She was loved by many. Her kids joke that there was almost no place you could go in the area where you didn’t run into someone who said, “Mrs. Gay is your mom? I love Mrs. Gay!” Maureen loved working and being with her “work family”, the kids, and their parents. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, children, family, and friends, going to Florida to visit her sister and brother, and she loved to talk and tell lots of stories. Those stories will be missed by all. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday August 16th from 9-11 a.m. at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 West Lancaster Avenue, Wayne PA. A short service will follow, then Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken, PA.
