I knew Alex through my nephews, Ben and Dan. He joined our family beach trip years ago, and I saw him many times since at holidays and family events with the Karbs. He was a cheerful, outgoing, friendly boy who grew into a man without losing those same characteristics. Alex brought cheer with him. I was saddened to learn he died. My condolences to his family and friends who will miss him. I hope remembering Alex will soon bring more joy than sadness to those who loved him.

There were many Summers that Alex would join our family for our week at Wrightsville Beach. He would show up with a smile and leave with a smile. We all enjoyed his company. There are many memories especially of Alex helping Geoff with the 1000 piece puzzle by finding the last piece that had fallen on the carpet! We laugh saying that Alex hid that one last piece. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his parents and family and to all that will miss his smile.

Our family has known Alex for many years, I can hardly remember a time when we didn't know him. He played youth soccer with my sons, joined us for skiing and beach trips, ate dinner at our house countless times. Occasionally I wakened in the morning to find him asleep on our family room sofa. He was as close to a third son as Ken and I had. He was as described in his obituary: a kind, smart, generous man with a great sense of humor of humor. We are so saddened at his death. With condolences to his family....

I met Alex only one time with his dad and friends in Greensboro, NC. I remember him as a delightful and extremely engaging young man, whom I felt I had known for years. My prayers for his family and friends are for strength, love, and acceptance. May God grant him peace, which this world could not.
