Madeline Gingerella Obituary

"Other things may change, but we start and end with family." ~Anthony Brandt
Madeline (Demers) Gingerella, 94, of Westerly, passed away at The Westerly Hospital on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, the late George Gingerella. Born in Moosup, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Alexander & Mary (Lachowecki) Demers.
Madeline enjoyed gardening, clamming, going to yard sales, and sharing her love of crafting. She and George owned The Crossroads Restaurant in Dunns' Corners for many years. As a foster parent for over twenty years, she shared her home and heart with many. In her retirement, she enjoyed working as a usher at The Granite Theater of Westerly and volunteering at The Westerly Hospital and The Westerly Senior Center.
She leaves behind seven children: George Gingerella (Jane), Carol Brough, Paula Niedermann (Robert Delaney), Rose Falcone (Charles), Amie Gingerella (Trey Hartung), John Gingerella (Ann), and Leslie Orr (Jim) all of Westerly. In addition, she will be missed by nineteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren (with two on the way!), and eleven great-great-grandchildren. As a woman of boundless energy, there will always be the legend of Grandma G. She will also be greatly missed by her longtime partner Jerry (Gerard) Lavoie. Madeline was predeceased by her siblings David Demers, Paul Demers and Susan Guillemette, sons-in-law Donald Brough and Tom Niedermann, grandchildren Daniel Brough and Robert Kenyon, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Pius Church, 44 Elm Street, Westerly on Friday at 10 a.m. Private burial at later date.
