Phyllis Batten Obituary

Phyllis Batten
February 25, 1930 - May 3, 2022
Olympia, Washington - Phyllis Batten died on May 3, 2022 in Olympia, Washington at the age of 92. She was born on February 25, 1930 to Lloyd and Florence Bailey. She grew up in eastern Washington and northern Idaho with siblings Kenneth, Edward, Donald, Lois Noble, and Margaret Lincoln
On January 1, 1950 she married Donald (Don) Batten. She and Don recently celebrated 72 years of marriage. She was the proud mother of five wonderful men, Bill, Mike, Rick (Debbie), Don Jr. and Todd (Laurie).
While her sons were growing up she served as a 4-H leader, and enjoyed watching her sons show livestock at local fairs. She later became a real estate broker and owned Thurston County Realty. She earned the distinction of being a top real estate salesperson and Realtor of the Year.
After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Don in their motor home and spending winters in Arizona. Phyllis was an avid quilter and made over 125 baby quilts that she donated to the group Madigan Granny Nanny's and St. Peter Hospital. She also volunteered for many years at the South Sound Senior Center where she planned and chaperoned trips. She enjoyed gardening and will always be remembered for her "blue flowers" (forget-me-nots) that she planted everywhere and so enjoyed.
Family was the most important thing to Phyllis. She hosted countless holiday celebrations and family dinners enjoying every minute of having her family together. She treated her daughters-in-law like the daughters she never had. She wholeheartedly enjoyed her grandchildren (Lindsey Hall, Kari Rittscher (Erik), Chris (Erin), Landon Hall, Willie, Katie, Andrew (Janae), Nicholas (Ashley), Sarah (Terrence Harper), Megan Hunter and Melissa Mailhot (Nick)) and twelve great- grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and daughters-in-law Kay and Maureen.
Phyllis lived a wonderful life and was loved by her family very much. She will be dearly missed.
