Mary M. Starmann, a long time resident of Joliet, IL passed away at home peacefully on March 27, 2026.
She was born on June 21, 1941 in Petersburg, IL to the late Sam W. Bennett and Bessie Robinson Bennett.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Joseph Starmann, children Cheryal (Keith) Larson, Scott (grace) Minor and Michelle (James) Harden. She is also survived by five stepchildren, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her brother Tom (Gladys) Bennett, sisters Dorothy (Sherwood) Surratt and Phyllis (Robert) Phalman, a daughter Kimberly (Mike) Pantoja and infant son Benjamin Minor Jr.
Mary was a life member of the Joliet Moose Lodge Family Center #300 and Women of the Moose Chapter 84, elevated to Junior Regent office in 1989. Senior Regent officer in 1990, Junior Graduate Regent office in 1991, College of Regents Chairman in 1994, Audit Special Chairmen in 1994 and College of Regents Chairman in 2007.
She made her famous fudge caramel for functions at the Moose Lodge and she had her own ceramic business in her garage. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and attending craft shows.
Visitation will be held at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Monday March 30, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. with services at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431would be appreciated.
