Lawrence Melancon Jr. Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Melancon, Jr., passed away at his home in Plaquemine, at the age of 86. He was a native of Donaldsonville, former resident of Buras for 33 years, current resident of Plaquemine. Larry is a US Navy veteran and served 4 years on the USS Cunningham. Larry then went on to work for Brown and Root for 33 years before retiring. Visitation will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine on Tuesday, December 19th, from 12 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Grace Memorial Park. Larry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sylvia Devillier Melancon; their three children, Zane Paul Melancon, Billy Joseph Melancon (Kimberly Mistich), Neil James Melancon (Tiffani Adams); sister, Maureen Cropper Perry (Cleve); brother, Lance Cropper (Margaret); 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his son, Larry Joseph Melancon; mother, Maude Falcon Fanin (Bill). Larry was a charter member of St. Louis Hunting Club and a member of Masonic Lodge #469.
