Lawrence Hebert Obituary

"Miss me a little–but not too long/And not with your head bowed low./Remember the love that we once shared,/Miss me–but let me go." Lawrence "Larry" Paul Hebert, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, neighbor and friend, peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the age of 76. Originally from Brusly St. Martin, Larry spent most of his life in Paincourtville alongside his devoted wife of 50 years, Susan, and their two daughters. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country aboard the USS Camden during the Vietnam War. Larry often spoke of his time in the Navy with great reverence, carrying that sense of duty, camaraderie, and pride throughout his life. After a long and successful career at Mosaic Faustina, he retired from his role as a plant shift supervisor in 2012. He found great happiness in each of his familial roles as Hank, Daddy, Papa, Paw Cutie, and Uncle Larry. He enjoyed fishing and navigating his way through marshes and bayous, sharing his knowledge and time helping others, visiting with his friends and neighbors, watching Jeopardy every day, spending quiet afternoons on the back patio, and connecting with and sharing stories of his cousins and extended family. Larry leaves behind his beloved wife Susan; daughters Michelle Russo (Sam) and Kimberly Gregoire (Alan); cherished grandchildren Haeleigh Gregoire and Tremaine Russo-Jones (Keonna), and his soon to arrive great-grandson, Emori. He is also survived by his twin Lauren Hebert, sister Marie Cecile Orillion (Sonny), sister-in-law Margaret Hebert, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews whom he adored. Larry was preceded in death by his mother Delna "Blue" Hebert, father Carroll Hebert Sr., brother Carroll Hebert Jr., and in-laws Robert and Bea Newchurch and Karen Newchurch Dizney. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, June 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 1, at St. Elizabeth Church in Paincourtville, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. followed by the Mass performed by Fr. Tomi Thomas at 11 a.m. Larry will be fondly remembered as dependable, good-natured, and always ready with a friendly wave and willingness to share both his knowledge and time. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication to others will endure in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
