James Stone Obituary

James Herbert Stone, born October 20, 1932, in Helena, Montana to Harvey and Borghild Stone. He died on April 4, 2024. He is now at peace and free from the grasp of Alzheimer's disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Barbara, his daughter, Shirley and his son, Scott. He leaves behind his wife Pam, his sister Nancy, his loving grandchildren, Christian and Rachel and his devoted daughter in law, Anne. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Robin and her husband Talal and their daughter, Ella. Jim received degrees from University of Berkeley, California (1958), University of Oregon (1962) and University of Cape Town, South Africa (1965). His professional work as an environmental scientist included Gulf South Research, LSU, Hong Kong Polytechnic and the Louisiana Governor's office of Coastal Activities. He was an avid runner and loved to dance, especially to zydeco. He met his wife, Pam while running the City Park Lakes. They began their life together, marrying in Hong Kong in 1988. He was a voracious reader, accomplished writer and always looked for scientific ways to save our planet. A service will follow this summer with his family returning his ashes to his beloved state of Montana. Please raise a glass to your favorite place on earth in memory of Jim.

Sincerest condolences to our dear friend Pam, and all of Jim´s family. ...Thank you God for Jim Stone! His friendship was a tremendous blessing to The Captain Fun Runners and countless others. You will never be forgotten my fellow LSU Tiger friend!

AS THE CAPTAIN FUN RUNNERS BALLAD SAYS:

* Jim Stone got us started, and we´re here to stay - We do run run run, we do run run!

** He put a little ad in the paper they say - We do run run run, we do run run!

- Well, our hearts beat fast!
- We don´t want to be last!
- THE CAPTAIN FUN RUNNERS WILL ALWAYS SAY - WE DO RUN RUN RUN, WE DO RUN RUN!!!

Pam,
I´m so sorry to hear about Jim. He was always so friendly to my parents on the corner of Lil´s and Seven Oaks. I know he will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Jim´s passing. I use to cut his hair. It´s been some time since I last saw him & often wondered what happened to him. Didn´t realize he had been sick. He was a smart, interesting person. I enjoyed getting to know him. He will be missed.
