Henry Mang Obituary

In memory of Henry Thomas Mang, age 72, who passed away on May 31, 2022, after a valiant fight against cancer. Born in New Orleans and reared in Kenner and old Jefferson, Tommy graduated from East Jefferson High School, served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1974. His beloved son, Jeffrey Ryan Mang, was born of his marriage to Linda Roche. Tommy was a member of the Boilermakers Union in which he worked many years as a welder and pipe fitter and then to casino work and various proprietorships. His favorite pastimes were funny movies, fishing, metal detecting, coin collecting, 60's-70's music, time with friends and family, especially brother Steve. Tommy is the devoted, eldest son of Florence Costa Mang and the late Henry Richard Mang, Jr., father to Jeffrey Ryan Mang (Latricia Lockhart), brother of Steven A Mang (Lois St. Pierre), Florence Mang-Zepeda, Eric P. Mang (Kelley Carver Mang), and Pamela Mang Wong (William); 11 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by loyal friends Willis Couch, Kenny Davis, Dave Stonecypher, Pam Tarver, and Shane Runnels, who is son to his "soulmate", the late Gayle Runnels. The family would like to thank cousin Henry U. Mang (Janelle) and Gladys Maggio for their numerous visits during his final hours while in Passages Hospice Care. At his request, a private interment will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, on Saturday, June 11, at 2:00 pm.
