Mark Stone Obituary

Mark "Stoney" A. Stone

Northborough - Jerry Garcia once said, "There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night, and if you go, no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone"

For 59 years, Mark A. Stone, affectionately known to all as "Stoney", made his own path and identity with family and friends. With his huge heart of gold Mark was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Along with his love for helping people, Mark found pleasure while working in his garden, cooking, fishing and depending on the season, playing pond hockey or a round of golf. He was an avid Patriots and Bruins fan and enjoyed listening to the Grateful Dead.

Mark's pride and joy in life was his only son, Jed. Mark never missed an opportunity to proudly boast of Jed's recent activities and achievements. Mark was most proud of Jed becoming an airline pilot.

Mark passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Marlborough Hospital after a brief decline in health; he was 59 years old. Among those surviving Mark are his beloved son Jed A. Stone and his girlfriend Savannah of Palm Coast, FL; his parents Richard and Sally Stone; his four siblings James Stone and his wife Marielle, David Stone, Judith Misener and her husband Peter, and Nancy Bissett and her husband Bruce, all whom reside in Northborough. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and many friends who will miss him dearly.

A time for family and friends to gather will be held on Thursday, July 15th, from 4-6pm at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. Mark will be laid to rest privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Addictions Referral Center Inc, 33 Main Street, Marlborough, MA 01532. I am so sorry to hear. I have very fond memories playing pond hockey with Stoney and his son Jed on Bartlett Pond. He was always willing to help with anything, had a heart of gold and will be missed. I was thinking of him when I looked at my garage floor this morning that he installed years ago. God bless.
