John GORMAN Obituary

GORMAN Jr., John

passed away Aug. 19, 2016 in Key West. He will be profoundly missed by his wife, Holly Hummell-Gorman; daughter, Hayley Gorman; and sons, Johnny Gorman and Paton Hummell; who all reside in Key West. John was predeceased by his father, John "Jack" W. Gorman Sr. Also mourning his passing are his loving mother, Claire Gorman; his brother, Chris Gorman (Christine) of Clearwater; his sister, Debbie Wuertz (Arthur) of Deland; nieces, Amy Wuertz and Kaitlynn Gorman; and nephews, C.J. Gorman and Caysun Kinghorn. He will also be missed by his father-in-law, Mike Kinghorn (Jane); mother-in-law, Bonnie Kinghorn-Cagle (Cleat); and brother-in-law, Scott Kinghorn (Suzanne).

John was born in Yonkers NY, Jan. 20, 1967. He lived in Danbury, CT, Philadelphia, PA, and Chicago, IL before moving to Clearwater. He graduated from Pinellas Park High School. He was a proud graduate of Florida State University. He enjoyed a successful career in the mortgage field and in banking. More recently he had represented VALIC Financial Planning Services, where he was pleased to provide retirement security for the dedicated educators and county employees of Monroe County.

In addition to the professional services to our community, John was an active participant in the educational and recreational activities of Key West. He gave enthusiastic support to Conch volleyball, softball, football, and basketball, as well as all the youth programs that have prepared young people.

John was proud to be chosen Outstanding Volunteer of the year at Poinciana Elementary when his children attended. He was continuously supportive of teachers and students. He not only knew the names of many students but he assigned nicknames to the kids he saw often.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, Aug. 27, at Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea, 1010 Windsor Lane, Key West, FL 33040.

John's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the love and support the community has provided during this tragic and sorrowful time. The kindness you have shown will remain in our hearts forever.

Prayers and condolences to the Gorman family. May God continue providing comfort and peace to you all. I was sad to see my friend was no longer with us. I attended Pinellas Park HS with John. Although time has passed since we've talked, he was always a fun loving, deeply caring and dedicated man. May he rest peacefully.
