Nancy Brown Obituary

Nancy Elizabeth (Norman) Brown

October 24, 1946 - June 29, 2022

Nancy Elizabeth (Norman) Brown of Union Grove, departed this plane of existence, while at home, on the morning of Wednesday, June 29, 2022. She will now join her beloved parents and daughter in the presence of her Lord and savior.

She was born to Cicero Roosevelt Norman and Bonnie (Johnson) Norman Oct. 24, 1946. Nancy was a dedicated mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, George Huie Brown Sr. They fell in love and then was married in February of 1962, where they made a lifetime commitment to love and support each other.

Nancy is survived by six children, George Huie Brown Jr. and wife, Susie of Mustang, Okla., Beverly Rose Brown of Biloxi, Miss., Tammy Lee Smith of Harmony, Joey James Norman Brown of Union Grove, Pamela Cooke and husband, Lee of Charlotte, and Jackie Adam Brown and wife, Mary of Lafayette, La. Nancy also leaves behind 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren to carry on her legacy.

She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents and an infant daughter, Buffy Mae Brown. She was also preceded in death by her five brothers, Henry Norman, John Norman, Claude Norman, Larry Norman, and Lee Norman; and sister, Sue Honeycutt. She is survived by two sisters, Betty Jane Bridges, and Mary Gail Jarvis.

Nancy had a way of telling you just what she thought and never sugar coated or minced words. Because of this, she could put off a number of people. But whether you liked her demeanor or not, she always commanded a level of respect. She was very intelligent and well spoken, with a keen B.S. detector that was always working. Nancy put these traits to good use when she worked at Jockey International. There, as a manager and supervisor, she enjoyed a fulfilling career until she retired.

Nancy's greatest pride and joy though, were her children. She was a caring and protective mother, and Lord help the poor soul who would ever come between her and her children. She was the proverbial "Mama Bear" and would fight tooth and nail for them.

At this time, the family is having a private graveside service to honor Nancy.
