Joan Urhausen Obituary

Joan Ann Urhausen passed away unexpectedly at her home in Kettle Falls, Washington, on Sept. 12, 2021.  Joan was born in Pasco, Washington, on April 27, 1938, to Clarence and Gladys Pratt.
Joan was one of six children. Her father was a logger and the family moved often in her youth to wherever the work would take them.
In her teenage years, the family settled more permanently in Rice, Washington.
Joan attended school in Kettle Falls. In her senior year she met her husband, Bob, at a grange hall dance. They wed on Dec. 10, 1955, in Colville, Washington. Joan and Bob were married 66 years. They had two children, a son, Bob C., and a daughter, Debbie.
?Joan had an undeniable passion for the Rodeo - after all she was named "Colville Rodeo Queen."
Joan, a barrel racer, and Bob, a calf roper, traveled all over the Inland Northwest competing.
Fond memories of Joan's were stories of all the horse races that she and Bob won on their horses, Red and Rosie. A memorable time for Joan and family was when they traveled to the Calgary Stampede. The couple enjoyed team penning and rodeo life where they made lasting friendships along the way.
Another love of Joan's was collecting antiques; she managed two stores in her lifetime. Joan had an eclectic eye where she collected many adorning pieces for her home and shop.
Joan was always there to lend a helping hand. She would often babysit her grandchildren, who she loved to no end. She would often let them get away with their impish desires, spoiling them rotten as they say.
Joan was a true adventurer at heart and loved going to new places (and that usually meant an out-of-the way yard sale or antique shop).
Joan knew everyone, and was generous with her love and her time.  Joan will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family. ?
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; son, Bob C; daughter, Debbie (Craig) Schuh; grandchildren, Tyler and Madison Schuh, Justin, Tasha, Alexis Urhausen, and great-granddaughter Valentine.
A celebration of life will be held at the Deer Park Golf Course, 1201 N Country Club Drive, at noon on Saturday Oct. 2, 2021.
