Susan SKIDMORE Obituary

In the early morning hours (I know, can you believe it?!) of Friday, September 20th, Susan Kay (Crawford) Skidmore passed away peacefully with loved ones close, after a short battle with Glioblastoma (brain cancer).

Susie was born February 6, 1956, in San Diego, CA. She spent the majority of her life making Washington her home, but has numerous friends and family throughout the country, carrying her with them.

Susie loved her family and friends more than anything and could never quite get enough time with them. She epitomized unconditional love and exercised forgiveness and compassion at levels most are not capable of achieving. She knew the cure for both a broken heart and an empty sweet tooth were usually one and the same - Chocolate. Not to mention, if you needed a gadget, she had it.

Her infectious positive energy and enthusiasm for faith, life and family left anyone in her circle of influence better for having known her, and her circle of influence was a big one.

She was a faithful, devoted and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and forged many lifelong friends in her faith community. She also found a renewed passion and purpose in her most recent years as a Seminary teacher in her local Omak ward.

Susie also forged many lifelong friendships and made loving memories not only from her years as a sign language interpreter, but also from her many years of government service; proudly retiring from the U. S. Forest Service.

Her talents and hobbies spanned a wide range. She was equally as talented at mending hearts as she was beautiful quilts, crafts and cards. Her musical passion shown through everywhere, from Drum & Bugle Corp. in high school to singing beautiful praise for her Heavenly Father, at family reunions, and of course loudly and proudly along to the radio on her hundreds of road trips to see loved ones.

No number of miles or weather conditions could keep Susie away from her loved ones, so her newfound role of guardian angel is one she will surely enjoy and excel at.

It is never goodbye; it is only until our souls meet again. Until then, we will carry you in our hearts.

She will be greeted in heaven by the loving arms of her parents, her granddaughter, Angela Marie, and so many others who had the pleasure of loving her through the years.

Susie was the beloved member of a very large family and leaves behind the broken hearts of many, including her husband, Stuart Skidmore (Omak); her daughter, Angela Celeste Whipple (Jim) of UT; her sons, Chad Skidmore (Laura), WA, Travis Skidmore (Angela), TX, Chris Skidmore, WA, John Skidmore (Kaylee), CO; her daughters in spirit, Anissa Skidmore, WA, Melody Wilson (Travis), MT; along with 12 grandchildren she loved and cherished so very much, Ainsley and Cole (Chad, Anissa), Jonah and Quinn (Travis, Angela), Haiden, Hudson and Halle (John, Kaylee), Nikki, Jenny, Brooke and Evan (Celeste, Jim). She also leaves her siblings, Cathy Strickling, UT, Bonnie Crawford, WA, Lynn Murray (Greg), UT, Marty Washington (Rick), WA, Marie Schruhl (Daryl), WA, Debbi Mullins, WA, Richard Casteel, WA, Don Casteel (Linda), WA, David Crawford (Anisa), and Cindy Clarke (Bobby) both of TX. Her many nieces and nephews will also miss their "favorite" Aunt Susie so very much.

The family will be announcing details regarding a celebration of life scheduled for Spring of 2025 in Omak, WA (Susie's home city).

We also ask that you celebrate Susie on her birthday, February 6th, as we declare it National "Bring Someone Joy" Day in her honor (We don't really have that power, but we are declaring it anyway). Whether that joy is in the form of a bag of M&M's, a shared ice cream, a compliment, or maybe just a really great hug, go spread joy! It's what Susie did and it's the best way we can continue to let her live through us.
