Susan HALL Obituary

May 20, 1958 - February 3, 2024

Susan Jane Hall was born in Cambridge England in 1958. Her early childhood and adolescent years were spent in New Mexico, Georgia, and Florida. She began singing and dancing at an early age and enjoyed performing in musical theater. Susan spent many years in Nashville, Tennessee where she graduated from Belmont University and continued to hone her skills as a photographer, concrete sculptor, and lead vocalist.

She moved west to continue her education, achieving a Master of Arts in Interior Design from Washington State University in 2008. After graduating she set permanent roots in Spokane, Washington. She opened One Source Design in 2008, specializing in sustainable interior design. Soon after she was hired as a professor of Interior Design through Yorkville University's online degree program where she taught for over a decade.

In her later years Susan's artistic crafts culminated in her ability to create sacred space for others. She was revered among the Spokane Yoga and sound healing community. Susan regularly performed Kirtan style concerts with her band Bijaa. A gifted teacher of meditation, Yin, Bhakti, and Kundalini Yoga, Susan's lasting impact on those who attended her offerings is immeasurable. Her teachings and performances can still be enjoyed today through her website satyayogaandchant.com.

Among her friends Susan was known for her kindness as well as her directness. One never had to wonder if Susan didn't like something, her expression spoke volumes. She was incredibly generous with those allowed into her heart. She loved animals and would readily drop her plans to assist a loose dog. Susan enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She prided herself in making the perfect cup of coffee, rarely turned down a good piece of pie, and enjoyed soaking in a hot tub with friends. Susan felt her most content when immersed in nature. She enjoyed taking her camper trailer on new adventures. She loved to garden and share her bounty with all who would take it. While fiercely independent, Susan was an essential member among her chosen family of friends and community.

Susan is survived by her mother, Janet Nichols, sister, Sally Sparks, and brother, Richard Hall.

Our paths crossed many times over the years through music. Susan was a hard working, honest, big hearted person. I'll always hear her voice in my head and continue to be blessed by her.

I´m struggling with this news. This is my favorite photo of Susan, taken when she was in my wedding. She taught me to value myself. That was a foreign concept at the time. Susan changed my life. I love you, friend

Susan and I met many years ago when we performed with the Nashville Shakespeare Festival. We shared rides and became good friends. I was so thankful to be able to see her years later when she visited Nashville and was able to stop by rehearsal for my last show with NSF. She was a cherished and kind friend, and her memory will continue to be a blessing to me.

i have over thirty years of life with Susan; every second with her is worth mentioning... We spent time together with no more than three at a time... Our conversations and silence was always thoughtful... She more than anyone could bring me to my creative self, as i lost that side of myself a lot... She worked so hard to find herself that she got really good at seeing people close to her... She taught me value in and showed me what it is to see people... It is actually impossible to cover everything i've gained from her or who she is to me... She is in my every breath...

Susan was always giving me trouble and encouragement at the same time. She was so sassy but all out of love. She supported me so much when I was in a moment of feeling unsupport from others I looked up to. It is because of Susan´s love that I am on the path I am on now. I will forever be grateful for her presence in my life.
