Response to Jim McLachlan:
Jim - Thank you so much for your comment! I am Robert´s son and would love to get a copy of the annual. Dad never really talked about his athletic achievements. The paper has my email, PLEASE feel free to ask them for it.

To the Williams family, please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Bob. My name is Jim McLachlan and I taught and coached at West Valley high school from 1970 to 2006. I was the head track coach there for 33 years and taught English and P.E. I have kept records and lists of performances for WV athletes and am still doing it. Over the years I have put out Track Annuals so the kids can see what the history of our program was and what has come before them. Bob was not only the State Champion in the discus but the first State Champion in Track and Field for West Valley. His record stood as the WV school record from 1959 until 1977 when Glen Donais threw 162' 5". His 161. 5" throw still ranks number 5 on the All Time list at WV. I wished I could have met Bob. The discus has been a great event over the years at West Valley and he and Fred Schaffer played a big part in that. Also I didn.t realize he married Sandy Hefte. I remember your family well from horse shows. My mom taught kindergarten at Trent grade school and my dad was the Employment manager at Kaiser Trentwood. When I finish this next annual I would like to make sure you and your family get a copy of it. His name will never leave the book.
Sincerely
Jim McLachlan
