Mary BAILEY Obituary

Mary "Mimi" Bailey, 73, of Spokane, WA passed away May 14, 2022, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 20, 1948, in Spokane, WA to William E. and Lynda Mantello and was a loving big sister to JoAnne Mantello. She graduated from Marycliff High School in 1966 and she was a licensed barber. In 1970, she married Fred "Russ" Bailey and they would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in August. Together, they had 2 children, Aaron and RusAne. She was a loving mom that devoted everything to raising her children. Known as Miss Mary to many, she was always present and attentive and was the trusted mom to all the kids in her Suncrest neighborhood. She was a doting Nana to 5 grandchildren and enjoyed getting pedicures with her granddaughters and watching her grandsons create chaos. Mary enjoyed morning walks with Russ, Gus (the unique schnauzer), and many, many park friends and fellow dog lovers. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and enjoyed mass and social time with her friends and fellow parishioners. Mary also enjoyed the snowbird life in Tucson and Las Vegas where she met so many wonderful friends. She was a kind and devoted friend to all who knew her. Mary is survived by her husband, Russ Bailey, her children, Aaron (Carrol) Bailey and RusAne (Mike) Bombach, five grandchildren, Brendan, Matthew, and Olivia (Bailey) and Gabriella and AJ (Bombach), her sister JoAnne Mantello and many cousins on the Montemurro and Mantello sides of her family.

Mary did not deserve the battle she fought but she faced the battle with courage and determination. She fought for her family and leaned on her faith to give her strength. She loved so many and was loved by so many.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 11:30 am at St. Charles Church, 4515 N. Alberta, Spokane. A burial service for the family will follow at the Washington State Veteran's Cemetery in Medical Lake.
