Lynn GRIFFITHS Obituary

(Age 73)

April 23, 1948 - September 1, 2021

Lynn Langford Griffiths of Prosser, Washington, passed away September 1, 2021, after a brief illness. Just weeks before she received a cancer diagnosis, she was delivering Meals on Wheels to neighbors and doing yard work at home. In the end, she was comfortable and cared for by her family, with support from hospice services.

Lynn was born April 23, 1948, in Sunnyside, Washington. She moved with her parents and brothers to Ritzville in 1956 and graduated from Ritzville High School in 1966. Childhood friends remember her as "impish," outgoing and fun loving. In high school, she was a cheerleader and one of a successful doubles duo in tennis. She and her friends attended summertime Grange dances in Ritzville, Odessa and Harrington. As an adult, Lynn returned to Ritzville for several years and became the owner of Hanson's Flower & Jewelry Shop.

Lynn lived for many years in Spokane where her children, Chris and Sharma, were born, and where she worked as a paralegal, first in law firms and then for the Civil Department of the Spokane County Prosecutor's Office and in the Major Crimes Unit. Professional colleagues remember Lynn as a valued and highly respected member of the legal team.

Lynn was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, John Griffiths, on March 2, 2021; her father, Phillip Allin Langford, in 2008; and her mother, Elien Foisy Langford, in 2014. She is survived by her son Chris (Candi) Walker; daughter Sharma (Nate) Walker-Thornton; and sons John (Samantha) Griffiths and Craig (Becci) Griffiths – as well as siblings Phillip (Bev) Langford; brother Fred (Rosemary) Langford; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Lynn and John were deeply attached to their ten grandchildren: Lauren and Kate Walker; Sam, Ty and Cody Thornton; Logan, Shea and Camryn Griffiths; Caden and Macey Griffiths; and Andra (Haylen) Red-Carlisle. Lynn was a loving grandma, hosting holiday meals and supervising Easter egg hunts. She didn't look the part of a storybook grandma, though. She was slim and youthful – and some of the grandchildren remember her on water skis, circling Newman Lake with grace and a smile.

Lynn was smart, capable and funny. She loved rock hunting, trailering to the ocean with John, bacon for breakfast and casinos. Lynn is deeply missed by her family and friends; we're grateful for the time we spent together and will remember her always with love.

Lynn's dad had horses and a donkey for years. When we were kids, he would drop us off with saddles, bridals and oats. If we could catch the horses, we could ride. If not, we could generally find the donkey and hopp on him for a short ride! Sounds like she stayed fun-loving to the end.
