Bobby HICKMAN Obituary

Bobby (Bob) Gene Hickman slipped into Heavenly Paradise on May 13, 2022 after battling Mantle Cell Lymphoma cancer.

Born in September 1935, in Molino, Mo to his parents, Walter William & Helen Jane Hickman.

Bob married Lois Jean Hand, in March of 1962 & together they are the proud parents of 5 children. Doug, Jeff, Brett, Melissa & Laurie. Bob & Lois have 10 grandchildren & 24 great-grandchildren.

He shared memories of growing up on a farm located just west of Santa Fe, MO. He was one of eight children. His younger years weren't easy with the challenges of poverty; he learned important lessons through the struggles of farm life.

Bob served in the U.S. Army for 6 years. Beginning in 1958 with 2 years of active duty in Baumholder, Germany.

His favorite activities were; hunting, fishing, camping, huckleberrying, mushrooming & traveling. He was a roofing contractor for most of his adult life & owned "Hickman Roofing".

In 1962, Bob & Lois purchased their home on Ash Street near Shadle Park High School. He enjoyed raising his family here for 60 years until his death. During their retirement years, Bob & Lois enjoyed many visits to Mexico & spent winters in Yuma, Az. They loved traveling in their motor homes & capitalized on every opportunity.

Bob was a family man, an exemplary husband & father. He is greatly beloved by his wife, children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He delighted in spending time with his wife Lois & extended family. He was tender hearted & always gave to & served others. He was known for telling his trademark jokes, which he relished sharing over & over. He was Hollywood Handsome, always brandishing a huge smile.

He is a hero saving two lives from drowning. He saved a stranger from drowning in the Spokane River & also his son Doug in Spirit Lake. Bob will be cremated, his remains placed in his plot located in Riverside Cemetery, in Spokane, WA.

A graveside service is scheduled for July 9, 2022.
