Mike Hill was in my brother Mike´s classes at St. Thomas Apostle. Snapshots of him in my mind over the years: the two Mikes ( G. Washington high school seniors) walking together in their far out bell bottoms and work boots on Geary Street 1972. Mike as lonely late night standby tow truck driver at 33rd Avenue gas station, Mike Hill finding his "lost" keys in his Haight Ashbury apartment couch, his noisy apartment over The Family Dog on Clement Street, that Hill family camping trip in a rainstorm where we all waiting for Will´s truck to work, Mike calling me an idiot for complaining about my weekends in the Navy reserves 1984 ( he may have had a beer, his eyes were half closed). The older Hill brothers holding court in their open basement doorway across from Sutro Super, casually mentioning they had hogtied Will and left him on his own for hours. But in the final measure, Mike Hill was a great person and a wonderful and faithful friend . He spoke eloquently at my brother Mike´s funeral ten years ago and I´m sorry I could not be at his send off. Jim Barr

I had the good fortune to have worked with Mike for over 25 years. He was a master at his trade and enjoyed great respect among his peers, rising to the position of Supervisor over the SFUSD Electric Shop in the Buildings and Grounds Department. Mike was kind and thoughtful with a wonderful curiosity and sense of humor. Condolences to his family and friends. e is missed already.

Mike playing tetherball in the schoolyard at St. Thomas, 'letting' skinny little kids like me score a point. Mike and Steve D. crashing my 13th birthday party, which my grandma thought was a pretty good idea. His thousand watt smile, his positive particles, his fabulous family. Thank you for the light and kindness, old friend. I'll see you on the other side.
