Thomas Kevin Phillips
Thomas Kevin Phillips, 67, passed away peacefully in his home on June 9, 2025, following a short battle with liver cancer.
He was born on March 25, 1958, in Lumberton, North Carolina, where he lived until he graduated from Lumberton Senior High School with the class of 1976.
He earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Wake Community College and attended North Carolina State University and Sacramento State University.
He was employed by Valley Oak Appliance prior to returning to North Carolina in 2021.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Judson Phillips and April Riley Poole, his step-father Calvin P. Poole Jr., and his sister Mary Jo Toler.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Salisbury, North Carolina; his sister, April Hall (Danny) of Angola, Africa; his half-brother, Marshal Rogol (Lynn) of Darlington, South Carolina; his step-brother, C. Parker Poole III of Spruce Pine, North Carolina; his step-sister Gwen Bell (Stewart) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Thom was an avid tennis player and enjoyed swimming and playing golf. He had a very kind and compassionate heart and he will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1255 Julian Road, Salisbury.
