JIMMIE (JIM) LEROY PARSON SR. Jimmie (Jim) LeRoy Parson Sr. was born May 31, 1949 in Bigfork, MN to Victor & Viola (Cline) Parson. Jim passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Big Falls, MN. Jim grew up in the Effie area and he graduated from Bigfork High School with the class of 1967. Jim was united in marriage to Linda Fougner on December 9, 1967 at the St. James Catholic Church in Big Falls. Jim worked as a logger and log home builder for many years. Jim and Linda were caretakers at Sportsman's Dock on Rainy Lake for nine years before retiring. In his spare time Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, searching for wild mushrooms and wood working. He was an avid gun enthusiast and spent countless hours shooting at the rifle range, cleaning his guns and reloading ammo. He was very creative and could fix just about anything that he set his mind to. Jim was known for his great sense of humor and quick one liners. He enjoyed telling stories and making everyone around him laugh. Jim loved his family above all else, he was very proud of his grandchildren and was so excited when he became a great-grandpa in April. Jim was preceded in death by his son Jimmie Jr; his parents; brothers Val and Larry; and sister Sharon. Jim is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Lisa Meyer; son-in-law Merritt Meyer; grandson Mason Meyer; granddaughter Marissa (Brennan) Ray; great-granddaughter Merritt Marie Ray; brother Tom; sisters Shelby (Jean) Dey and Myrna (Minnie) Wass; sister-in-law Della Parson; brothers-in-law Steve Fougner and Rod (Jane) Fougner and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, November 1st at the Evergreen Cemetery in Big Falls with a luncheon to follow at the Community Building.
