DELBERT (BERT) EUGENE LEGGETT 1953-2024 It is with the very heaviest of hearts the family of Bert Leggett shares the news of his death on October 29, 2024 in Duluth, MN. Bert was born the second child of four children to Eugene and Mamie Leggett in International Falls, Minnesota. Bert had a love of the outdoors from an early age. He spent his days building forts in the woods, chopping down trees, and enjoying the friendship of the many kids who lived in the neighborhood. While in elementary school he and his father ran a trap line which meant trudging through deep snow each day after school to check their traps. Success meant a bit of extra spending money. Ice fishing, partridge hunting, and black powder deer hunting were his chosen ways to spend time as the years passed. Holler School was where Bert had his first educational experiences. He graduated from Falls Senior High School in 1971 and spent the next two years working full time at Boise Cascade while attending Rainy River Community College. The following two years he studied at Duluth Area Vocational Technical Institute and graduated from the Machinists Program. After working construction in the Falls for a few years Bert started work in the Twin Cities as a machinist. During this time he met and married DeEtta Russert in 1979. The two of them decided Texas held a good future for them. Bert spent his working years in Texas as an IT Specialist traveling the world. It was in Texas his daughter Danielle and son Brett were born. The desire to be nearer his children and parents drew him back to International Falls where he worked at Int'l Bildrite until his retirement. Bert was predeceased by his parents, his brother Bob Leggett, his sister Brenda Leggett, his nephew Jeremy Leggett, and his grandparents Ernest and Lillian Hockenson.Survivors of Bert include his daughter Danielle Leggett (Andrew Kollar), Brett Leggett (Mackenzie) and his grandchildren Addison, Easton, and Nolan Leggett. He is also survived by his sister Sandy (Chuck) LeMoine and nephew Elias (JoAnn) LeMoine, nephew Justin Leggett, nephew Travis Stoltz, niece Hailey (Jason) Fullerton, Uncle Dale and Aunt Nancy Krueger, cousin Linda (Joe) Kawula, and cousin, Michael (Christine) Krueger. Announcement of a funeral service will be made when arrangements have been finalized.
