Andrew Reilly Obituary

Reilly, Andrew (Drew) G., - 55, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 in Ocean City, NJ. Born in Media, PA, Drew divided his time between Ocean City, NJ and Newtown Square, PA. Growing up, Drew spent summers in Ocean City, NJ, working at Jilly's Arcade in his early teenage years. Drew developed his entrepreneurial skills by partnering with the Levchuck family and Surf Buggy Centers, to open 12th Street Bikes, in the Jilly's Arcade parking lot, which Drew and his parents operated for many summers. Drew attended St. Aloysius Academy in Bryn Mawr, PA, Archmere Academy in Claymont, DE, then went on to The Pennsylvania State University where he followed in his brother's footsteps and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 1990. While at Penn State, Drew earned a spot in the highly coveted internship program at the new Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. After graduation, Drew pursued his career in Hotel/Restaurant Management and held various management positions at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Chicago, Bally's Park Place, Atlantic City, Seasons Resort and Conference Center, and ultimately returned to the jersey shore to work at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City where he was named Executive Director of Hotel Operations. Drew expanded his career to the sales industry when he accepted a position with Eli Lilly and Company. Drew's love for the hospitality industry lead him to purchase Atlantic City Central Reservations, Inc. in 2001, and in 2017, he acquired two historic hotels in his beloved Ocean City, The Ocean Breeze Hotel and The Blue Water Inn. Drew was very involved in his children's private schools, and served on various parent association boards, chaired fund-raising committees and volunteered in their sports programs. He was able to combine his love for his children and his passion for coaching. For over 12 years, Drew coached his children and their friends in football, tennis, baseball, soccer and basketball at St. Aloysius Academy, Newtown Edgmont Little League, TEYSA, The Academy of Notre Dame, St. Norbert Parish, The Malvern League and the Ocean City Recreational League. He was a positive influence on many young boys and girls as he taught them how to compete while having fun. Drew was a member of Overbrook Golf Club in Villanova, PA where he enjoyed playing tennis and paddle tennis. Drew loved animals, and he could often be found in the summer months at the Ocean City Dog Park with his beloved dogs Obie, Bailey and Lily. Drew was loved by so many. He had a generous heart and the gift of telling a good story. Survivors include his children, Andrew and Alyssa; Krista (nee Jorgensen), former spouse and mother of his children; brother William P. Reilly, Jr. (Wendy) and sister Margy Andersson (James); mother Margery S. Reilly; and eight nieces and nephews. Drew was preceded in death by his father, William P. Reilly, Sr. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation from 9:30am to 11:00am on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at St. Augustine Church, 13th Street and Wesley Avenue, Ocean City, NJ. Mass will begin at 11:00am. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Ocean City, 1 Shelter Road, Ocean City, NJ 08226. We all offer our sincerest condolences at your loss. This is our first year working with your company - so we never got to meet Andrew, but he certainly seems to have given a great deal of himself to others and I will be greatly missed.
