Betty Fogel Obituary

Betty J. (Gehris) Fogel, 79, of Pennsburg, formerly of Barto, passed away on July 5, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Barto, she was the daughter of the late Russell W. and Wordilla (Hoffman) Gehris. Betty loved traveling, whether it was out west or international. She enjoyed shopping, especially for home decor, as she loved decorating her home. Betty worked at the Dinner Bell Restaurant for 15 years. She then took over her father’s moccasin stand at Zern’s from 1982 to 1993. Betty then owned the Deerskin Leather, Etc. shoe store on Long Beach Island for 30 years before retiring. Surviving is son Craig Fogel and his companion Donna Buehrle; daughter Vicki Werst, wife of Craig; sister Shirley Himmelberger; grandson Allen Werst, husband of Jane; granddaughter Ashley Werst; and great grandchildren Alexander and Colsen Werst. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Lynwood Gehris and brother in law Dennis Himmelberger. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 12, 11:00AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Barto, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
