Willard Ricky "Rick" Brooks, 76, of Peru passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Stillwater Hospice House in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born December 4, 1947 as the last child to Alvia and Lucy (Lardino) Brooks. Rick's mother, Lucy, had come to America from Italy when she was 7. She married Alvia Brooks in 1920. They had fourteen children.
Rick was a Local Union Member of #685, an avid golfer, and a Notre Dame and Yankees fan. He married Mary Sue Adcock on April 4, 1980. Rick accepted the Lord in 1993, and joined the Mexico First Brethren Church, where he served faithfully as a member and trustee.
Rick is survived by his wife, Mary Sue; his children Denise Brooks of Peru, Indiana, Robert (Lynn) Brooks of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and Michael Brooks of Bunker Hill, Indiana; five grandchildren: Sage, Chase, Trena, Eron, and Eathan. Also surviving are brothers, Terry (Sandy) Brooks of Mexico, Indiana and Tex (Abby) Brooks of Denver, Colorado and sisters, Virginia (Fred) Massey of Peru, Indiana, Betty Brown of Mexico, Indiana, and Vicky (Kerry) Deardorff of Mexico, Indiana. Rick is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; son, Nathan Brooks; brothers: Don, David, Glen, Bill, Cecil, and Jimmy Brooks; and sisters: Mary Waso and Helen Brooks.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held at the Mexico First Brethren Church, South Miami Street, Mexico, Indiana on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 11am with Pastor Lori Keck officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mexico First Brethren Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
