WALTER SCHWAB Obituary

SCHWAB--Walter. Walter Schwab passed away on December 15, 2023 at the age of 94 in his home in Sagaponack, NY. He lived a full life shared with his wife of 70 years, Roseann (Ro), who passed away in 2019. He was predeceased by their son, Larry, in 2017 and grand- daughter, Erica, in 2023. He is survived by his daughter Caryn Schwab and her partner Scott Lee. As an only child, Walter grew up in Brooklyn. He and Ro settled in New Jersey for most of their early life. They loved music, the arts and theater in Manhattan where he and Ro lived for a decade before heading to the East End of Long Island. A story teller quick to inject humor, he found his greatest peace when listening and singing along to the music of his time, especially Sondheim. His professional career had him leading a uniform company in the City - founded by his father - for nearly 50 years. Walter and Ro eventually became part of the East End arts community where both continued to pursue their passions. Walter, a talented, award-winning photographer focused his work on the people and cultures of the many countries he and Ro traveled. His photographs were exhibited in numerous galleries and museums including Guild Hall and The Parrish Museum in the Hamptons. Walter's journey was anchored on his 70 year love affair that only grew stronger over time. His favorite line that he shared over and over... "Never would he have thought a boy from Brooklyn and a girl from Passaic would end up in the Hamptons", but so went their story. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Erica Schwab Health and Wellness Fund at The Meeting Place Clubhouse in San Diego, CA or the East End Hospice in Westhampton, NY.
