December 2, 1963 - December 22, 2024
Michael "Mike" Anton Somers, 61, passed away on December 22nd, 2024. He is preceded in death by his father Richard "Red" Somers, sister Teresa Byrnes, and cats Peanut and Valerie. He is survived by his wife Julie Anna Somers, his children Sean Somers (Leah), Stefani Boehme, and Emily Scott (Jordan), stepchildren Amy Schwartz (Jason), and Michelle Trembacki (Jeff), grandchildren Barnaby, Zooey, Hyperion, Athena, and Chloe, brother Richard "Rick" Somers (Ayumi), nieces, and nephews.
Mike enjoyed fishing in the numerous lakes of northwest Indiana, taking vacations to Key West, grilling, lounging on the deck, watching Bears football, playing an elf at Christmas for his grandchildren and neighborhood kids, yelling out the car window at random strangers that he liked pizza, and maintaining the nicest lawn in the neighborhood. Mike coached his children's numerous seasons of Valpo Parks tee-ball and baseball. Mike will be remembered for spreading laughter, adding magic to many children's Christmases, waving at strangers, sending kids to tag the tree at Will Park, and cheating at Uno.
A celebration of life will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 6225 Lute Rd in Portage Indiana January 25th between 11 and 1. Family and friends are encouraged to stop by to tell their favorite story of Mike. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, University of Chicago Children's Hospital, or SPCA.

Mike was my boss at Christenson Chevrolet. He was the greatest kindest boss I ever had. He made it enjoyable to go to work. He truly cared about his employees. He will be missed Rest in Peace

I worked with Mike at Paul Sur and we had a lot of laughs. We kept in touch this past year by sending funny texts to each other.
He always shared wonderful stories about his grandkids and he really enjoyed the family vacation to Disney World that he went on with his grandchildren. Mike will be missed by many.
My deepest sympathy to Julie and his family.

My name is Tanna, I met Julie& Mike on a Carnival Cruise, what a Loving, Nice, couple. They welcomed me like I was a longtime friend as soon as we met, one of the destinations was KeyWest Florida. So glad GOD allowed our paths to cross, it was meant to be Julie, my prayers are with you always
