How does one even begin...growing up next door to the Drennen's from age 4 to 12 holds so many memories. I loved the entire family. I especially remember Sam, my dad, and Ricky going hunting on early fall mornings. Ricky and I were the same age and would wait in the car with hot chocolate until out time to go walk as 'drivers' of the deer toward our dads. Then there was the time the four of us went frog gigging and we all got one except for Sam...and then we cooked them on the grill in Sam's garage. We got soaked that night! I remember grilling venison burgers and Marilyn making homemade vanilla ice cream and my mom making chewy chocolate sauce to go with it. Sam was a good man, a country boy who was true to his word and a leader for his family. He had the best laugh! He and his children will always have a very special place in my heart!
